Four Patch #3

Background

Visiting Catherine and finding fabrics she just loved, seems to have been the pattern through late 2009 and early 2010. Here again, Barbara couldn't resist the fabric, used in the larger block of this Four Patch quilt. And, thinking purple (or violet, or amethyst) she and Catherine selected the coordinating fabric to make a lap sized quilt.

The four patch pattern was chosen because Barbara wanted to display the "chosen" fabric to the greatest degree possible.

The fabrics were purchased on April 26, 2010. Work on the quilt began on May 21, 2010. Barbara picked it up from Catherine Hanna, of The Quilted Garden, on June 1, 2010 after it was professionally quilted by Catherine.

Barbara then tackled the binding on the quilt. It was finished a week or two later. See the photos below.

Barbara gave the quilt to a friend of ours, Cynthia Howden — she is, apparently, very fond of purple colours. I, unfortunately, wasn't home to take a picture of her with the quilt.

Backing Fabric

If the front doesn't suit your tastes; perhaps, the quiet backing fabric will do the trick.

A full view of the quilt, and a close-up of the blocks are also available.
