Crane Paradise

Background

Every time we were at Wineberry Fabrics this past summer, I eyed this quilt. The last time we were there, August 31, 2011 — to get some fabric to finish the StrataVarious — I could no longer resist. So, we bought the kit. Which included the backing fabric.

The quilt design, Crane Paradise, is by Denise M. Russart, and features fabrics from the Hnanko's Treasures Collection from Hoffman California Fabrics. The four main images are from H8756 Wine Gold #50G.

It took some time to figure out how to fussy cut the the 4 image blocks. But, Barbara started on it Sunday, September 18, 2011. It was off to Catherine for professional quilting on Tuesday, October 18. While dropping of the quilt, Barbara, who didn't like the supplied backing fabric, talked things over with Catherine. They decided to go with a different fabric. Definitely a better choice, I think.

A binding fabric was finally chosen, and the quilt bound. She's a beauty!

The four main blocks were "fussy cut" from the signature facbric.

A view of the full quilt, a close-up of one of the crane blocks, and a shot of the backing fabric against the wisteria are also available.
