Woodland Friends

Background

We had decided Barbara was going to make a baby quilt for Amanda's baby. While on a trip down to Seaside, Oregan with a friend, they took in some quilt shops in Cannon Beach. Barbara saw the Woodland Friends (flannel) panel (by Northcott), and decided it would be perfect.

But, we had some problems trying to figure out how to do it. After much playing around, and a little cutting up of the Woodland Friends panel we settled on an idea. Though neither one of us was really sure we'd like the result.

Barbara started working on the quilt on June 28, 2015. By then we knew Amanda was going to have a baby girl. We figured the colours and panel subject matter would still work just fine. The final decision was made some days into the project. Barbara finished it July 17th. Some stitch in the ditch and a little hands free machine quilting around tree and clouds finished it off.

And yes, we were both pleased with the final quilt. Hope Lexsa Brooke, born July 11, 2015, will like it as much.

Barabara had also bought an orange polka dot fabric, same as the green, along with the other fabrics — thinking it would go well with the panel. But we never found a way to include it in the quilt.

The baby quilt was sent to Lexsa on August 11, 2015 (yes, we know, rather late).
