Barbara's Very First Quilt

What can I tell you about this laptop quilt. It was Barbara's very first project.

We had completed 8 or 10 weeks of basic quilting instruction at Wineberry Fabrics & Yarns. (Rick and 6 or 7 ladies — Barbara didn't want to go alone.) And, Barbara hadn't yet got in taking classes, or purchasing patterns.

So, using her extensive training and experience, Barbara sketched out a pattern on 1/4" graph paper, and picked some basic colours/fabrics. Some stitch-in-the-ditch, a first attempt at binding, and voila! One lap quilt

It has been exposed to too much sun, and too many sleeping cats. But, it was, and always will be, the very first one.

Very Red, White & Blue!

Yes, that is a dark blue, not black.

I really must scan her design page, and post it for all to see.

Barbara's very first quilt project. Designed, pieced, quilted, and bound all by herself. Using nothing more than what she learned in her basic quilting class.
