StrataVarious

Background

A while back, March 2010, Barbara purchased the fabric and pattern book for the quilt design StrataVarious. However, she never seemed to really have any interest in the pattern. So, this past May, she decided to use the materials to make another City Slicker lap quilt.

When she finished the City Slicker, there was a fair bit of fabric left over, so she decided to give the StrataVarious a shot — personally, I think it was a great decision. More specifically, it is the Fabulous II pattern, Page 15, from the book StrataVarious Quilts by Barbara Persing & Mary Hoover.

Most of the fabrics were purchased on March 19, 2010. Some additional fabric was purchased on April 30, 2011. And, there might have been some pulled out of her stash. Work on the quilt began on June 10, 2011. Barbara picked it up from Catherine Hanna, of The Quilted Garden, on August 24, 2011 after it was professionally quilted by Catherine. This and the City Slicker went in, and came back, together.

Barbara then tackled the binding on the quilt. It was finished September 16, 2011.

Taffy, Barbara's sister, took it home with her Saturday, October 15, 2011. Taffy and Larry were over for a delayed Thanksgiving supper.

We all love the look of this fabric. Bill included. The backing fabric is a soft blue, ribbed, chenille. Works perfectly with this quilt.

And, the quilting shows up quite nicely. We believe the pattern is called "Butterflies and flowers".

A shot of Taffy wrapped in her quilt, a view of Barbara and Bill displaying the quilt from our deck (wanted the light), and a closer look at the full quilt are available. As is a view showing a close-up of the blocks.
